Cody basketball squads defeat KW

Kam Niemann and Wilkins Radakovich helped the Broncs out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first, but the Trojans responded to take an 11-9 lead into the second.

The Broncs took a 19-18 lead midway through the second, and a three-point play from Luke Talich with 21.5 seconds to go in the half helped Cody to a 26-25 lead at the break.

Talich added another and-one midway through the third to make it 39-35 Broncs.

A Radakovich offensive board and put back stretched the lead to seven at the 6:20 mark, but the Trojans fought back to trail by just two 51-49 with 40 seconds to go.

With plenty of fouls to give before the Trojans hit the bonus, the Broncs used those up until KW was forced into a desperation three with 1.4 seconds remaining and missed to give Cody the 51-49 win.

The Broncs end the regular season at home this Friday against Riverton. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Fillies undefeated

The Cody Filly basketball team remained perfect on the season after a 71-46 road victory over Kelly Walsh on Tuesday.

A Kennedi Niemann lay up late in the first quarter put the Fillies up 15-6, and Molly Hays ended the opening frame with a buzzer-beating three to put Cody up 18-6 heading into the second.

The Fillies outscored the Lady Trojans 17-11 in the second quarter to take a 35-17 lead into the third.

An Ellie Talich three-point play helped cap off a big Filly run with 2:20 to go in the third and Cody ran away to the 25-point win.

The Fillies look to cap off a perfect regular season this Friday when they host Riverton at 6 p.m. at Sweitzer Gym. As of Wednesday morning, however, both teams were stuck in Casper after the roads closed due to dangerous conditions.
