YRA applying for liquor license

During a May 10 airport board meeting, airport director Aaron Buck said that an airport-wide liquor license could incentivize potential restaurants to locate in the building.

“I think this would be a really good opportunity for the airport to help attract or keep a tenant in the (airport) restaurant,” Buck said. “... As we continue to evaluate that space and what really goes in there, this would really help the airport with keeping a tenant in there that we really like and want.”

The liquor license could cost $1,500 a year, he said.

Buck further said that the airport owning and maintaining its own liquor license could potentially allow it to increase rent and give it additional negotiating power with tenants.

The airport board voted unanimously to allow Buck to apply for the license.
