A new exhibit, titled “Glock Makes History: The Birth Of The Polymer Handgun Market,” has opened at the Cody Firearms of the Buffalo Bill Center of the West.

Gaston Glock, an Austrian with an engineering background, developed the gun over time. In 1983, 30,000 Glocks with poylmar frames and an internal safety system were shipped to the Austrian military.

In 1986, Glocks first appeared in the United States with law enforcement personnel.

The Cody exhibit is sponsored by GLOCK Inc. and the Gretchen Swanson Family Foundation.
