University of Utah research professor Dr. Robert B. Smith will speak at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West on July 11 on Yellowstone National Park geysers.

“Anatomy of Old Faithful and Upper Geyser Basin” is the subject of Smith’s lecture as part of the Draper Museum of Natural History Lunchtime Expedition series at 12:15 p.m. in the Coe Auditorium.

The talk focuses on the geodynamics of Old Faithful and other geysers and their links to the Park’s magma reservoirs and volcano system.

Smith is the founder, principal investigator and coordinating scientist for the Yellowstone Volcano Observatory and the Yellowstone-Tetonic Seismic and GOS Networks.
