James Howard Snyder

Former Cody resident James Howard Snyder, 88, of Ajo, Ariz., died Sunday, June 2, 2019, at Emerald Groves in Mesa, Ariz. 

He was born on Aug. 20, 1930, in Grass Creek to Oscar and Dorothy (Cox) Snyder.

Jim worked for Marathon Oil as a Petroleum Engineer, in Nebraska and Wyoming prior to retirement in 1986. After retirement Jim and his first wife Janice sold their house, purchased an RV and traveled for several years visiting relatives, friends and family. They then moved to Ajo in 1989. 

After his first wife passed in 2003, he married Margaret Anderson a family friend in 2007.

Jim is survived by his wife Margaret Anderson of Ajo; his daughters Bonnie Simpson of Beaumont, Calif., and Mary Hershner of Mesa, Ariz.; his grandchildren Melissa Williamson of Beaumont, Calif., Matt Kraft of Dallas, Texas and Kristina Betancourt of San Bernardino, Calif.

Jim was preceded in death by his first wife Janice (Wintermote) Snyder, his son James E. Snyder and his granddaughter Becky Simpson.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Jim on Saturday, June 15, at 2 p.m., held at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, 400 W. Palo Verde Ave, Ajo, AZ, 85321.
