Constance Ann “Connie” Hernandez received her “Angel Wings” in the late evening of June 7, 2019, at Kaiser Hospital, Downey, Calif., surrounded by her loving family.
Connie was the first born child of George and Ellen Chambers on July 25, 1935, in Cody. Her five siblings followed over the next 19 years. Connie attended Cody schools graduating high school with the Class of 1953. On Jan. 19, 1956, she married Mervin E. Weller (1951 Cody High Graduate) in Cody. Their three children Karen Kay, Teri Ann and Larry were all born in Cody, in the fall of 1960 the family moved to California where Merv joined his father and uncle in their family’s plumbing business.
On Nov. 23, 1973, he died at age 40 of a brain tumor, leaving Connie and three children. She chose to stay in California to finish raising her children with Merv’s loving family to cheer her on. In January of 1982 Connie found love again and married Tony Hernandez and shared 24 years together before he passed away of liver cancer on Dec. 23, 2006.
Connie loved bowling which was a love of both husbands, traveling to Cody to visit family and especially enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the light of her life. She was a kind, loving, generous person, ready to help anyone in need of a hug, advice or a sounding board.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, her very special grandfather Tom Wyllie, her loving in-laws, many aunts and uncles, her sister Eleanor Knight and her husband Bob Knight, both of her husbands, Mervin Weller and Tony Hernandez.
She is survived by her three children, daughters Karen (Wendal) Parker of Nampa, Idaho., grandchildren Matthew(Allison) Shaw, , Calif; Ryan(Nailey) Shaw, Las Vegas, Nev.; Teri Ann(Roger) Ramirez, South Gate, Calif; grandchildren Damion(Sonja) Ramirez, Joe(Debbie); Ramirez; Phillip Ramirez; Son, Larry Weller, grandson, Scott Weller, South Gate, Calif. also 13 great grandchildren. Brothers Tom(Toni) Chambers, Cumming, Ga.; George(Becky)Chambers, Fargo, N.D.; sisters Nena Graham Burke(Dave), Cody, Wyo.; Sue Ellen(Bob) Parker, Sachese, Texas; brother-in-law Gene Weller Calif.; sister-in-law Mary Jo Weller Cordova, Sacramento, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place with a family celebration at a future date.
