Linda Kocher

Linda Kocher, 73, died peacefully Friday, April 26, 2019. She was surrounded by loving family when she went to her heavenly home.

Linda was born July 22, 1945, in El Centro, Calif., to Clancy and Charlotte Bartels. She was the oldest of four children. Her father was an Independent Insurance Agent in Butte, Mont. Her mother helped at the Agency in the early years, and took care of the four children born between 1945 and 1949.

Linda graduated from Butte High School in 1963. She then attended Montana State University, earning her Associate in Nursing Degree in 1966, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 1967. Linda was a Life Member of Alpha Gamma Delta International Fraternity. She was also a member of Alpha Tau Delta National Fraternity for women in Nursing.

Linda worked in medical related jobs while in college. When she earned her RN, she worked in nursing at St. James Hospital in Butte whenever there was a break in school. After graduation she worked at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, Wash. By the latter part of 1968, Linda was the Afternoon Charge Nurse on the Neurosurgery floor at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane.

On Jan. 18, 1969, Linda and Bob Kocher, whom she met the first year of college, were married in Butte at St. Mark Lutheran Church, LCMS. They then moved to Bozeman, Mont., where Bob went back to college having just gotten out of the Air Force. Linda went to work at Deaconess Hospital in Bozeman in surgery and recovery room.

Bob graduated from Montana State with a Bachelors degree in Commerce and went to work in Linda’s father’s insurance Agency. April 15 of 1973 Linda gave birth to the first of their three sons, Chris. He was followed by Mike on Oct. 17, 1975, and Tim on Oct. 28, 1979. 

Linda is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bob Kocher; their three sons and their spouses Chris (Colette) of Worland, Mike (Heidi) of Livingston, Mont., and Tim (Johnna) of Billings. Linda is also survived by a sister Terri (Bob) of Laurel, brothers: Craig (Sharon) of Corrales, N.M., and Lowell (Susan) Helena, Mont.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Linda is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who she was extremely proud of.

Funeral services will be held on May 6, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Cody. A luncheon will follow for those who would like to visit with the family.
