The Cody School District is receiving community support to make upgrades at Wynona Thompson Auditorium.
At the May board meeting trustees approved accepting $24,000 from the Park County Recreation District. In June or July they will accept $30,000 from the Shoshone Recreation District.
Athletic director Tony Hult said he, superintendent Ray Schulte and trustee Stefanie Bell met and decided that, due to the numerous community uses of the auditorium, it was appropriate to reach out for funding support.
“Some of the stuff there we use more for outside entities,” he said. “It’s not just stuff our students use.”
The funding will cover a good portion of the cost of auditorium upgrades that include a lighting console, wireless microphones and stage curtains.
Purchase of wireless microphones was approved in March after the CHS drama program temporarily had to do without them when they could no longer use the frequency they had relied on.
