A Cody High School graduate received a send-off from his family and hometown first responders when he and the rest of his Montana Air National Guard unit refueled their helicopters Saturday at Yellowstone Regional Airport.

Chief Warrant Officer JD Nose graduated from CHS in 2000 and was one of 34 crew in six Chinooks making their way to Fort Hood in Texas before a deployment to Afghanistan.

They were met by Park County first responders who formed up at the airport to welcome them and wish them well in their continued service to the country.

Del Nose, JD’s father, enjoyed the brief stop between Helena, Mont., and Laramie.

“We spent an hour with the crew,” he said. “It was good.”

He even had the opportunity to give his son a big hug just off the runway.
