The 37th annual Cody Lions Club Turkey Day on Saturday was a “smashing” success.
“It was great,” club member Craig Wilbur said. “We smashed all records.
“The weather was great,” he added. “Everything the community did for us was unparalleled.”
The club gave away 1,200 turkeys, 1,000 game hens and sold 1,000 hamburgers and 1,000 hotdogs each.
Thanks to warm weather and calm winds, thousands of people flocked to the Bob Moore Memorial Parking Lot at Beck and 13th to enjoy Cody's start to the holiday season.
Across the street at Cody Auditorium, Crisis Intervention Services had its annual craft fair.
“It seemed like half the county was down there (downtown),” he added. “It really was standing room only.
“The air drops went great,” Wilbur said. “Some kids had as many as six winning flyers.”
Winners of this year's raffle were:
-Grand prize, 2008 Dodge pickup - Phillip Alcaraz of Worland.
-First prize, 2008 Polaris ATV - Gary Brown of Cody.
