Halloween closes part of Sheridan Avenue for kids

By Carole Cloudwalker

This document was published online on Thursday, October 30, 2008

There will be a ghoul-and-goblin-style roadblock along four blocks of Sheridan Avenue for three hours Friday evening, Oct. 31, to facilitate Halloween trick-or-treating.

Cody's main street will be closed to vehicle traffic from 10th to 14th streets. The closure will last 3:30-6:30 p.m., in keeping with a recent city council decision.

Motorists planning their evening commutes will have to detour around the main street during this time.

The annual merchants' trick-or-treating will include free candy for costumed children as well as pizza for 75 cents per slice at Pizza on the Run, where costume judging also will take place.

There will be no school Friday, so other Halloween events have been planned, including a free craft and reading party for children in grades K-5 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Friday at the new Park County Public Library, 1500 Heart Mountain St.
