Campground closed

This document was published online on Friday, August 29, 2008

In a cooperative effort with the Shoshone Forest to fight the ongoing Gunbarrel Fire, Buffalo Bill State Park last week closed its North Fork Campground and the Sheep Mountain Day Use Area.

The day use area now is being utilized as the firefighters' base camp. The closure will be in effect until further notice.

The campground area currently is serving as a staging area for the helicopters used in firefighting efforts.

Anyone with reservations at the North Fork Campground may find that their campsites have been moved to the North Shore Campground.

Both areas are closed, and all public access is restricted because of fire activity and traffic in the area.

For more information about the availability of campgrounds at Buffalo Bill State Park, call 587-9227.
