Activities fill Fourth

Fourth of July festivities will keep Cody busy this week with parades and rodeos.

The 89th annual Stampede Rodeo continues at 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and 5 p.m. Friday.

The Xtreme Bulls event will be at the rodeo grounds 6 p.m. Saturday with Powell's Kanin Asay back to defend his 2007 title. Bobby Chitwood will open for Caddle in a concert after the competition.

The Stampede parades are at 9:30 a.m. Thursday and Friday. Cody's Dennis “Long, Tall Uncle Sam” Haugen replaces actor Wilford Brimley as Grand Marshal. The theme is “We built this city on Boots, Buckles and Broncs.”

Live entertainment will be in City Park and at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center's powwow gardens, beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

The Cody Wild West Extravaganza craft fair opens at noon Thursday and Friday in City Park.

The Cody Runner's Stampede starts at 7 a.m. Friday at the rec center.

Cody Gunfighters host Wyoming Mounted Lawmen in a special shootout show at 6 p.m. Friday outside the Irma Hotel.

The fireworks display will begin about 10 p.m. Friday.
