She also loved George Strait, nail polish

This document was published online on Thursday, May 08, 2008

Things worth knowing about Cody's Super Mom, the late Millie Krenning who had 19 children:

€She loved George Strait's music, and attended several of his concerts.

€She and Carl were married when Millie was 18.

€Millie, who passed away last December at age 93, is survived by 40 grandchildren and 70 great-grandchildren.

€She applied fresh nail polish to her fingernails before each dinner out with her beloved husband Carl.

€Her daughter Shirley was able to spend 72 Mother's Days with Millie.

€She always made each of her children's birthdays special with ice cream, cake, presents and a happy party mood.

€She was a gracious lady, and the most-used phrase she uttered was “thank you,” which she never failed to express to those who did her a favor.

€Her children never went to school with patched clothing.

€A typical Sunday dinner for Millie's family (with not much left over) included a 10-pound beef roast, and always featured desserts such as a cake and two pies.

€In her later years Millie loved shopping sprees, had great fun traveling to Billings with her daughters, and enjoyed going out for lunch.

€Despite 19 full-term pregnancies, Millie rarely “showed” and worked right up until the actual birth; people often were surprised when she turned up with a new baby.

€If her children needed disciplining, she spoke the traditional and much-dreaded words, “Wait until your father gets home.”

€She always invited single people she met to come to her family's home for Sunday dinner or a holiday meal.

€She was a great cook, and taught her daughters culinary skills as well.

€She always said that when the school bus pulled up to her house it arrived empty, but when it pulled away, it was full.
